Venture Breakfast Program
Venture Breakfasts bring founders and/or investors together to break bread in an informal, no-agenda setting that supports Startup Haven’s mission — to help founders build real relationships, offer help when they can, ask for help when they need it.
These are casual get-togethers and seem to work best with either:
- Groups of around 8 in a quiet restaurant with wait staff (order at the counter cuts into conversation.)
- Alternatively, a larger group can be done in a coworking space, social house, or coffee shop with a back room. In this case, we’d do a spread of coffee, juice, and pastries.
- Either way, we make the location private until after registration. This way, we can use registration questions to make sure guests are qualified and don’t have a conflict of interest.
As a Chapter Director, What Do I Need to do to Host a Venture Breakfast?
Just show up and have fun! It should be almost as simple as showing up at a meal with friends.
- Let the Startup Haven team know a date/s that work from you.
- We will handle the outreach.
Outreach comes from the Startup Haven team, highlighting the Chapter Director.
Note: In rare cases, we will ask permission to send the outreach from you.
This means we would create an email address, [email protected]. And then do an email campaign with wording from you, such as,
Hi {first name},
Yourname here, Chapter Director for the Yourcity chapter of Startup Haven, along with C0-chapterDirectorname. I’m hosting an informal breakfast for some founders and investors on the 22nd. Care to join? You can RSVP here: Example luma invitation.
Best,
Yourname
In that case, we can forward any personal replies on to you.
3. Feel free to share the Luma invitation (example) with your network, but this is not required.
4. We will share the reservation and other logistic details with you ahead of the event, you can view the Luma registrations as people sign up.
5. Arrive at the breakfast as the host. You can also ask people to go around the table and share what they are working on and if they have an “Ask and Offer.”
6. Pay with your virtual or physical Brex card. All Chapter Directors are added to the Startup Haven Brex account.
7. Ideally, get a group picture for social media. Share your learnings with the Startup Haven team!
Breakfast Venues
Let us know if you have any recommendations in your city for breakfast venues. We will locate a restaurant that is:
- Centrally located
- Open by 8 am
- As mentioned above, wait staff as opposed to order at the counter, unless it’s a larger group.
We’re looking for:
- Low noise-level to support conversation
- Takes reservations or is known to be slow in the mornings
- Should have tables that can support a group of at least 8
- The best spot would have a private area or semi-private area for up to ten people or so
Also,
- Avoid bench or booth seating (can be awkward for groups)
- Vegetarian option
- Both casual and elevated atmospheres can work and be reasonably priced
Thank you!
